WHAT?! No YG Family at 2016 MAMA?!
Yes you read that right! Sadly, YG artists will not be attending 2016 MAMA. You're probably wondering "what?! why?!". Before you go off on papa YG lol, it's a pretty legit reason why. After all, Idols can't help if they are extremely busy with schedules. On November 22, a source from YG Entertainment spoke with Star News and said, “The final decision has been made that YG singers will not be participating in the 2016 MAMA at AsiaWorld-Expo on December 2 in Hong Kong.” The source explained, “Our agency artists have schedules in December and it was decided that it would be difficult for them to attend the 2016 MAMA. We have also informed Mnet that they will not be able to attend.” BLACKPINK was nominated for best new female singer and best music video. PSY was nominated for best male singer, Lee Hi was nominated for best female singer, and MOBB’s “Hit Me” was nominated for best collaboration. BLACKPINK, iKON, PSY, and Lee Hi were all nominated for Artist of the Year. Finally, MOBB’s “Hit Me” was nominated for Song of the Year. ~~~ Big Bang, Psy, and Sechskies are all due for comebacks in December, and are currently busily wrapping up album productions and preparing for concerts. Attending '2016 MAMA', expected to occur for a total of 3 days, will be too excessive for the top YG artists. A rep of YG explained, "'MAMA' opened up online voting on December 1, and we don't know if there's the possibility of winning an award yet. However, even if we do get invited, it's been decided that it would be impossible to prepare a performance for the award show." The rep then emphasized that YG's absence was not caused by any conflict between the label and Mnet, and said, "We hope there won't be any speculations or misunderstandings."
It sucks that they won't be there. They won't be there to accept their award if they win. But nevertheless, if they win that would still be great right?! I know everyone is so used to seeing the YG family at MAMA every year. It's going to be pretty awkward not seeing them perform and all. What do you guys think about this?
