Que tal peeps!
This is your favorite chica Jessamine aka @amobts bringing you another weekly Kbeauty skincare card. I'm all about trying new products. However, this new skincare product by Milky Dress called Black Luster Mask is very unique and revolutionary in my opinion. Milky Dress was able to combine skincare and a fun science project together. The product uses a magnet to lift out the nasty stuff hiding deep in your pores. This may sound crazy but read on to find out more about this product.
Besos and Blessings up!

Information About Black Luster Mask: Brief Description
"This wow-worthy face mask does just that, as it's made of Dead Sea Mud, which is packed with 24 kinds of skin-protecting and nourishing minerals. As you hold the provided stone close to your skin, the magnetic field attracts all the dirt and toxins out from your pores while softening and brightening your freshly clean skin. What's left is a mind blown and skin radiant, healthy, and more elastic" (Source). In the sleek package you will receive the Dead Sea Mud Mask in a jar and a magnet. The packaging is really cute.

Ingredients
"Iron Powder, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isopropyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Cyclomethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Sea Salt Extract, Fragrance, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil" (Source). I was pretty shocked by the ingredients. There are many natural ingredients in the product which is definitely a thumbs up. However, it does contains Iron powder. This is needed for the magnetic technique to work. But is this ingredient safe for skin?
Is it Safe?
However, I don't know if I'm sold. Yes, this product as many natural ingredients, however is the iron powder safe to use? I did some research to find out. According to Paula Begoun "Iron powder is not a commonly used cosmetic ingredient as it can pose a risk of irritation and is also problematic if its dust is inhaled" ( Begoun, 2016). However, many products like makeup and other skincare products contains this ingredient. Many times we don't even know. If the FDA approves of the product then it is safe to use. But if you are sensitive to this ingredient you still may have a reaction. "Individual exposures to these metals in small amounts are unlikely to cause harm, but they can allegedly build up in the body over time and can increase risk for a variety of health problems" (Buzzfeed, 2013). With that being said I read another article about this iron powder ingredient. It states, "Iron oxides typically don't cause problems even for people with sensitive skin. All in all, they're safe and non-irritating in the amounts found in cosmetic products (Skin Store, 2016). Basically it said that usually when used in cosmetics or skincare products this ingredient is made in labs and is closely monitored. Natural iron oxides from nature can be harmful but the stuff made in the labs are made to not be harmful for the skin. As long as this ingredient is not absorbed into your blood cells.
